PUBLIC NOTICE
Unclaimed Deposits maintained under Section 31 of the Banking Companies Ordinance, 1962
A debt payable in Pakistan currency or any other currency in owing by a banking company by reason of a deposit, not being a deposit in the name of a minor or a court of law, at a branch of banking company in respect of which no transaction has taken place and no statement of account has been requested or acknowledged by the creditor during a period of ten years are considered as unclaimed deposits. These also include fixed deposits, other deposits, cheque, drafts and bills of exchange etc. including statements favoring the Federal / Provincial governments.
Banks/DFIs have surrendered their unclaimed deposits as of December 31, 2023 to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). Continuous access to information on unclaimed deposits surrendered by ICBC bank is available at:
1. Official website of ICBC Pakistan (www.karachi.icbc.com.cn)
2. With Operation Manager / Team Leader of all ICBC branches
3. Website of State Bank of Pakistan (www.sbp.org.pk)
4. Field officers of SBP, Banking Services Corporation (BSC) located in various cities
All the claimants/beneficiaries can apply for refund of their claims in the bank’s branch where deposit accounts were opened or instruments were payable via:
n A written request/application to bank’s branch for refund of funds with complete address and contact details of claimant(s)
n Identity proof of claimant(s)
n Death Certificate and Succession Certificate in case of deceased customer
It may also be noted that after completion of one year from the date of making the list first public, all unclaimed deposits/instruments will cease to be claimable and will be transferred to the government.
